On Friday 27th October 2023, Rema dropped his highly anticipated EP, Ravage. This project did not disappoint. The EP has already received 3 million streams on spotify.
Let’s delve in to each track:
1. Trouble Maker
Trouble Maker: I love how smooth and relaxed this track is. I think it’s a great way to start an EP. It feels like Rema is trying to state how people accuse him of being reckless or immature, which is no wear the case.
2. DND
2. Rema is letting everybody know that he is him. I’ve noticed people online try to dim Rema’s light by comparing him to other afrobeat artists. This track is not only a certified banger, but its Rema also telling us that we should face our front. My favourite part of the track is the chorus, it’s catchy, vibrant, and sharp.
3. Smooth Criminal
This song is very smooth, within 28 seconds into the track, your body is already moving. I like how the song plays homage to amapiano, which is such a prominent genre right now. I can imagine Asake on the remix , their voices would flow so well together.
4. Don’t Leave
This track is very sexy. I can imagine this being played at parties and clubs. Be prepared for DJ’S to put this on their setlist.
5. Red Potion
The production is phenomenal. The way Rema harmonises with himself is so beautiful to hear. I love how he changes his voice from higher to lower pitch. The outro is amazing, again paying homage to amapiano.
